It's been a loooong time coming and I'm happy to report not everything in the world is upside down. My new home and community in Oakland has had some heavy hits these past few months and it's affected everyone in different ways. The new president, the ghostship fire were by far two ground-shaking events that on the bright side have united the Oakland community - and that's what my work ultimately strives for. Food and drink continue to play a role in my design projects - bringing people together - especially in times where we need support.
So let me introduce my next project for non-table gatherings. I'm brainstorming the name: it is a cup and plate combo... a symbiotic design. The cup acts as support for the plate, the plate relies on the cup to function horizontally. (sketches and paper models will be added soon!) This is for standing gatherings where food and drink are served together, in smaller portions... cocktails and h'orderves. This design allows flexibility for social interaction, freeing up at least one hand for meeting new people or greeting old friends. I'm hoping this will be a familiar design: a cup and plate... introducing one small change: the cup and plate connect.
